Prof. Akio Tanaka

Professor Akio Tanaka is a distinguished professional affiliated with the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences at Hiroshima University, where he has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Dermatology since 2022. He graduated from Hiroshima University’s Faculty of Medicine in 2000 and has held various positions at prestigious institutions including JA Hiroshima General Hospital, King’s College London, and Chuden Hospital. His specialty areas include atopic dermatitis, urticaria, angioedema, and pruritus.
Professor Tanaka is actively involved in several professional associations, holding significant roles such as Delegate of the Japanese Dermatological Association, where he is also a member of the Atopic Dermatitis Treatment Guidelines Committee and the Career Support Committee. He is a Delegate of the Japanese Society of Allergology, a Councilor of the Japanese Society for Investigative Dermatology, and a Councilor and member of the Atopic Dermatitis Section of the Japanese Society for Dermatoallergology and Contact Dermatitis. Additionally, he organizes the Atopic Dermatitis Treatment Research Group and serves as the Director of the Japanese Society of Psychosomatic Dermatology.
