Prof. Gary Lau is currently Director of HKU Stroke and Clinical Associate Professor in Neurology at HKUMed. He has published >190 articles/book chapters on stroke and have developed a number of innovative platforms to improve the prevention and holistic management of stroke.

Prof. Lau is also passionate about medical education. He serves as the Assistant Dean (Education Innovations) and the Director of EdTech & Students in Medical and Health Sciences Education at HKUMed, where his team has pioneered numerous initiatives to advance health sciences education. His contributions have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Award for Patient-Oriented or Clinical Research in Hypertension from the American Heart Association, the Henry Walton Prize from the Association for the Study of Medical Education and the Smart Ageing Leader Award from the Golden Age Foundation. In 2024, he was honoured as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Hong Kong.
