Prof. Atsushi Iwata is Vice President and Director of Neurology at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute for Geriatrics and Gerontology. He received his medical degree and Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo and completed postdoctoral research at Stanford University.

Prof. Iwata is a board certified neurologist with subspecialty expertise in dementia and neurodegenerative disorders. His clinical and research work focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, including biomarker development, early diagnosis, and disease modifying therapies. He has held academic appointments at the University of Tokyo and serves in leadership roles within multiple national neurological and dementia societies in Japan.
