Prof. Takashi Yokoo
Jikei University School of Medicine, Japan
Prof. Takashi Yokoo is Vice President of Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan and Professor and Chair of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension, one of the largest nephrology departments in Japan with more than 130 nephrologists.
As a clinician, he is primarily engaged in the comprehensive management of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), particularly those in the conservative (pre-dialysis) stages. His daily clinical practice focuses on slowing CKD progression and delaying the initiation of dialysis through optimized blood pressure control, proteinuria reduction, metabolic management, and multidisciplinary collaboration. He is committed to providing continuous care across the entire spectrum of kidney disease, from early asymptomatic urinary abnormalities to advanced kidney failure.
In parallel with his clinical work, he conducts clinical and translational research aimed at identifying strategies to prevent end-stage kidney disease and improve long-term renal outcomes. His research integrates pathophysiological insights from glomerular diseases with real-world CKD management, with the ultimate goal of reducing the burden of dialysis and improving patients’ quality of life.
He completed his medical training at Jikei University Hospital and spent three years in the United Kingdom as a Research Associate at University College London Medical School, gaining international research and clinical experience.
