Prof. Stephan Jacob

Professor Stephan Jacob is an endocrinologist/diabetologist, expert in nutrition and a clinical hypertension specialist (ESH). He is teaching at the University of Tübingen, Germany. He is in private practise and has a cardio-metabolic institute (CMI), in which non pharmacological and pharmacological therapy life style coaching of cardio-metabolic patients in out-patient care is coordinated, in a network with the family doctors and the clinics in his town.
He is involved in several clinical trials, in obesity, lipid and blood pressure management, specifically the CV outcome trials of new anti-diabetics.
Previously, Professor Jacob was Senior Consultant at the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Pathobiochemistry, University of Tübingen, Germany.
His research interests include the cardio-metabolic syndrome and the role of early detection and intervention, specifically the effects of life style intervention on prevention and treatment of co-morbidities; to set up structured care in an out-patient setting (CMI).
Professor Jacob is in the board of the working group on diabetes and the heart of the German Diabetes Association.
Also, he is heading the research group on cardio-metabolic care at the University of Munich. Furthermore, he is a member of several guideline committees and editorial boards. He is one of the founders of the Global Alliance for cardio-renal-metabolic care.
